Skinny Mean Man

To say Say Anything's upcoming sophomore release, In Defense of the Genre..., is highly anticipated would be a gross understatement. I have rabidly been awaiting new material from Max Bemis ever since there was the promises of experimental E.P.'s shortly after 2004's ...Is A Real Boy (this is not counting the Vs. Aids/Was A Real Boy tracks).

Bemis has made it worth the wait, though. In Defense of the Genre..., which will be released on October 23 on J Records, will be a double album. 27 glorious songs, clocking in at around 90 minutes. It's been years since I was this excited about an album release. That's not to say I haven't been excited about a number of amazing albums that have come out, but this one's just extremely high on the priority list.

The band made the first track off of Disc 1, "Skinny Mean Man," available for stream on their MySpace page this morning/yesterday evening at midnight. It's a fantastic opener, although it may take a few listens for some people to get into it (but I promise, it happens). Never one to let my pretties down, I have a gift for those who don't think the stream is enough. Just click the link. No need to "right click."
